Historical Description of Symbolism 💐🏛️👑🌍🌹✅
The egg is a universal symbol shared by most ancient civilizations and religions, embodying the meanings of creation, renewal, and unity.
Let's begin with a symbolic description to enrich your understanding.
In Islam:
"The Prophet's Seal":
General Historical and Religious Symbolism
* Origin of the Universe (The Cosmic Egg): In ancient Egyptian, Indian, and Greek mythology, it was believed that the universe originated from a "cosmic egg." It is the ultimate symbol of absolute beginning, containing within it all the potential for life before it materialized.
In Persian culture (Nowruz), it symbolizes fertility and the beginning of the new year.
* Unity of Existence: The egg represents balance; The shell represents the sky, the yolk the earth, the white the air, and the yolk the center and heart of the planet, making it a symbol of totality and comprehensiveness.
For early alchemists, since the dawn of history and the founding of sciences after the Prophet Idris, the egg was associated with Hermes Trismegistus, and according to the school of Socrates (the Great Teacher), Plato (a student of Socrates), Aristotle (a student of Plato and teacher of Alexander the Great), and the ancient Library of Alexandria, the egg's white symbolizes the silver of the moon, and its yolk symbolizes the sun, i.e., gold.
✅ 2. The Egg in the Islamic Context (The Seal of Prophethood)
In Islamic tradition, the egg was not adopted as a devotional symbol, but it appeared in the descriptive description of one of the physical signs of prophethood of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), namely, the "Seal of Prophethood." * Prophetic Description: The hadiths describe the "Seal of Prophethood" (a prominent mole between the Prophet's shoulders) as being "like a dove's egg" in size and oval shape.
* Spiritual Symbolism: * Comparing the seal to a dove's egg evokes gentleness, peace, and purity—qualities associated with the dove in Islamic consciousness.
* Its oval shape also symbolizes completion and finality; it is the mark that sealed the line of prophets, just as an egg contains within it the complete secret of life.
3. Philosophical Approach: The link between the "cosmic egg" and the egg-shaped "Prophetic Seal" lies in the concept of "center." Just as the egg is the center of life for specific creatures and civilizations, the Prophetic Seal is a physical sign confirming that its bearer is the "center" of the final message and the axis around which humanity's guidance is based.

For our Christian brothers and sisters, Easter eggs are decorated eggs made as part of the Easter celebration tradition. Traditionally, Easter eggs are chicken eggs decorated and colored with bright colors, but nowadays they are often replaced by plastic eggs.
Easter eggs are an ancient festive tradition, associated with Easter, where the egg symbolized the beginning of life on Earth, according to Christian beliefs. Orthodox Christian tradition recounts that Saint Mary Magdalene went to Rome and entered the court of Emperor Tiberius Caesar to protest the persecution of Christ and his followers. She explained the story of Christ's trial and the Romans' and people's opposition to him.
The crucifixion of Judas Iscariot (who resembled Christ, betraying him for 30 silver denarii to the emperor, and upon whom the Lord cast a curse, and Christ was raised up and did not die, and the curse was upon Judas as punishment for what he did.)
And Mary Magdalene, the disciple of Christ, who was well-known when she was wealthy. She went directly to the emperor. As was customary, she brought him a gift, but it was the smallest gift, a gift that only the poor would bring to the emperor. She wanted to show him that she had given up everything for her faith in God and had become poor for His sake, yet she had become rich through her faith. It was for this faith that she came to the emperor's court. She presented her faith in God and in Christ and invited him to it, saying, "This is a simple chicken egg because Christ rose!" and did not die.
At the very moment he was speaking, the egg white turned a pale pink, then a deep, intense red.
The emperor replied, "I can't believe this!"
"Just as I can't believe that this white egg you're holding turned red," he said, "at the very moment he was speaking."
This was the first Easter egg.
It bears the name of Mary Magdalene, the disciple of Christ, whom St. Thomas Aquinas called "the apostle of the apostles." According to Christian tradition, she was the only woman who followed Christ on his journey and witnessed all the events that have come down to us.
She was also the first to see him after his return.
The Church followed this tradition of dyeing eggs for Easter to affirm the resurrection of Christ. The egg also symbolizes Christ's resurrection, just as a chick breaks through the egg and emerges into life. This is an established Orthodox Christian tradition within the Church
We respect everyone, their opinions, and their cultures. We are all brothers and sisters in humanity.
